Here's everything you need to know to get your sims falling in love in no time.
How To Start The Romance Consultant Career
Before you can start setting your Sims up with the partner of their dreams, you first need to have the Sims 4 Lovestruck pack downloaded. Once you have access to Lovestruck, you can have your Sim join the Romance Consultant Career in the same way they would join any other career.
Have your Sim open their phone and select the career tab (the briefcase icon). From here, you can scroll through the career list until you see Romance Consultant. Select this career and your Sim will start out as a 'Romance Newbie' Romantic Consultant.
Romance Consultant Career Requirements
There are very few requirements for beginning the Romance Consultant career and the only item you will absolutely need is a computer. However, there are a few methods and items to use to increase your promotion speed and boost overall career performance.
Have A Computer, Speaker, And Television
Like with most careers in the Sims 4, you will need access to a computer for your Daily Promotion tasks. Otherwise, you won't need any special equipment to level your Sim's Romance Consultant career.
You can find computers on public lots such as libraries. You can also purchase a computer for your Sim's home. However, if a computer is outside of your Sim's budget, you can use a pre-existing computer on a public lot or add one to a more convenient public lot where the build budget is infinite.
While not required to complete the career, your Sims will also benefit from having access to a speaker and television.
You won't need to use the speaker or TV if your Sim goes to work in person, but if your Sim is working from home, their at-home tasks will involve watching Telenovelas and listening to the Romance Station.
Utilize Skill Resources And Level Skills Early
Arguably, the best way to get your Sims promoted quickly is to start the Romance Consultant Career with your Romance Skill pre-leveled.
You can level your Sim's Romance Skill easily by participating in Romance interactions with other Sims. These interactions are usually under the Romance tab in your Sims' chat radial and are marked with a Heart Bouquet icon.
Try dating, flirting, or progressing your romantic relationships as far as they can go.
If you want to maximize your Sim's effectiveness as a Relationship Counselor, it's best to nurture a healthy relationship (or a few healthy relationships) as the Counselor Sim.
You probably wouldn't trust a chronically single person for dating advice, and the same goes in the Sims. A romantically satisfied Sim makes for a better Romance Counselor as they will more frequently experience Flirty moodlets and will have a better reaction overall to romantic encounters.
As you nurture your Romance Counselor's relationships, you will also be using Romance Interactions that increase the Romance Skill over time. The faster and more successfully you can improve your Sims' relationships, the faster their Romance Skill will increase as well.
Get In The Mood For Romance
Another great way to improve your Sims' performance is to make sure they are in the mood for romance when they are completing career tasks or on their way to work.
Try to send your Sims to work with positive moodlets like Flirty, Very Flirty, or Confident. These moodlets will boost your Sims' performance at work and make career interactions easier when engaging with other Sims. Doing this can be as easy as having your Sim kiss their partner goodbye before work.
You can put your Sim in the mood by listening to the Romance Station, taking a Steamy Shower, watching the Romance Channel, drinking romance moodlet teas and mixed drinks, or by smoking romantic concoctions at the Bubble Machine.
Have your Sim experiment with substances around the world to see which ones put them into a Flirty mood. These aphrodisiacs are key to making sure your Romance Consultant Sim is in the right headspace to do their job.
Having your Romance Consultant Sim in a Flirty or Very Flirty mood will also increase their Romance Skill more quickly, which is necessary for career promotion.
The Best Traits For A Romance Consultant Sim
The Sims 4 Lovestruck introduced the Lovebug trait, which is by far the best trait to give your Romance Consultant Sim.
The Lovebug Trait makes your Sim obsessed with all things love and romance. They will become Flirty more easily, have an easier time falling in love, and will gain more powerful positive moodlets when interacting with loved ones or engaging in romantic behaviors.
The Lovebug trait greatly increases your Sim's Romance Skill progression and speed.
Giving your Sims the Romantic trait will also increase their chances of becoming Flirty or Very Flirty and will likewise increase the rate at which they earn Romance Skill. However, beware of this trait as it will make your Sims become Sad when they haven't interacted romantically in a while.
If you aren't going to fully commit to having your Sim be a full-time romantic, the Romantic trait may not be the right choice for your Sim, as you will need to engage in consistent romantic interactions.
Romance Consultant Career Levels
The basic branch of the Romance Career has seven career levels. To reach level seven, you will need to level not only your Romance Skill but also your Logic and Charisma Skills.
Because you need Logic and Charisma Skills to specialize in a new branch at career level eight, you should invest in items that help your Sim build Logic and Charisma. Try practicing speeches, giving compliments, playing card and board games, and researching to level these skills.

Matchmaker Career Branch Levels
Upon reaching Career Level Eight, you can choose to specialize in one of two career branches: the Matchmaker branch or the Relationship Counselor branch.
If you choose to become a Matchmaker, you will need to level up your Charisma Skill alongside your Romance Skill.
The best way to level up Charisma is to complete actions and interactions that are marked with the Sunglasses icon in your Sims' speech radial or when interacting with objects like the mirror.

The Matchmaker Branch is the only way to earn the Heart to Heart trait, and you won't be able to earn this through the Relationship Counselor branch of the career.
The Heart To Heart trait gives your Sim a boost when around happy couples. They'll receive a positive moodlet when in the presence of couples experiencing romantic harmony. Isn't it just fabulous when you can help two Sims find love?
Relationship Counselor Career Branch Levels
If you choose to send your Sim down the path of Relationship Counseling, you will need to level your Logic Skill. After all, Sims in a relationship crisis need a counselor with the problem-solving skills that they lack.
The best way to level the Logic Skill is to play board games, research, debate, or perform actions marked by the chess piece icon. An easy way to improve Logic at home is to buy a card table or chess board.

You won't earn as much money hourly as a Relationship Counselor, but you will earn more Build Mode items for completing level ten of the Relationship Counselor Career.
You also won't earn the Heart To Heart Trait by following the Relationship Counselor branch.
